Will Someone Please Buy The Former “Pink House” And Make It Pink Again?

I suppose we’ve had a little time to get used to it. News broke last December, after all, that Park Slope’s famous Pink House had been sold and promptly re-painted a poopy, ho-hum shade of brown. Life continued as it was. But now that the house has been elaborately flipped and made its way back on the market at almost double the price—it sold at $2.395 million and is now valued at $4.795 million—this seems as good a time as any to re-visit this sad loss.
Which wasn’t even the end of the world! I don’t even like the color pink that much! Or spend a whole lot of time walking around Park Slope! But I do like it when you walk down a given street and every single house is wildly different from the ones on either side of it, architecturally or otherwise (Greene Ave. near Broadway in Bushwick is particularly good for this, should you be inclined). And I don’t like anyone with the audacity to buy up a beloved, weird neighborhood icon and immediately paint it over to look like every other house I can’t afford to live in. It was nice and lovably garish the way it was.
Which I guess is about all there is to say. If any of you out there have around $5 million to blow and feel like doing something about this, I’m willing to bet a lot of other people out there would appreciate it. In the meantime, I guess I can focus on saving up for my own house (haaaa, ugh) so I can paint it whatever hideous color I want. Which probably won’t be pink, but definitely won’t be light brown. There have to be some perks to outlandishly expensive home ownership, after all.
