9. The Culver Viaduct
The F train briefly comes above ground between Carroll Gardens and Park Slope—in fact, the Smith-Ninth Street station is the highest in the subway system. And while approaching or departing the station, you can look down on the Gowanus Canal and its environs, a particularly urban view that also affords a nice look at the iconic Kentile Floors sign and the Brooklyn skyline beyond.
