Northside Festival Adds Another Free Outdoor Show, Plus Hundreds of Artists to Lineup: Solange, Phosphorescent, The Gories and More
Earlier in the month when we announced that The Walkmen are playing the Converse Rubber Tracks Live Stage at McCarren Park as part of the Northside Festival, we promised you that wasn’t all we had in store for the weekend. Never one to break a promise, dear readers, we’re happy to announce they’ll be playing with special guests Phosphorescent and openers Friend Roulette and Abadabad. And yes, while tickets sold out very, very quickly, we’re happy to release some more out into the wild. Click here to RSVP for your own general admission ticket before they disappear again. But that’s not all. On Sunday, June 16th, Solange, Petite Noir, Cable and My Midnight Heart will also be playing the Converse Rubber Tracks Live at Northside Stage in McCarren Park! Each night’s supporting acts were handpicked by us here at The L Magazine and all have recorded at Converse Rubber Tracks here in Brooklyn, NY.
Just like The Walkmen, free general admission tickets are available with an RSVP, and everyone with a Music or Premium badge is guaranteed entry. Don’t have a badge? Just click here to RSVP or buy a badge. Gates open at 3pm and the show starts at 4pm, but if you don’t have a badge, we’d recommend getting there early; an RSVP doesn’t guarantee entry so beat the crowds! We’ll be there rain or shine at the corner of Bedford Ave and N. 12th St. (right next to the tennis courts).
And of course, we’re still hard at work to fill those four days with as much music as we possibly can, and we’re thrilled to say we’ve added even more bands to the lineup, including Phosphorescent, The Gories, Ivan & Alyosha, Born Ruffians, Sinkane, BRAIDS, The Spinto Band, Peanut Butter Wolf, Yellow Ostrich, The So So Glos, Weekend, Widowspeak, Chad Valley, Julian Lynch, The Beets and Foreplay, to name just a few. They’ll join the likes of The Walkmen, the reformation of Greg Ginn’s iconic band Black Flag (featuring Jealous Again-era vocalist Ron Reyes), Lambchop, Swans, Iceage, Son Volt, Subhumans, Rhys Chatham and Oneida (in a special collaborative performance), WHY?, Kylesa, Mac DeMarco, The Toasters, Merchandise, The Men, White Fence, Torche, Chelsea Wolfe, The Soft Moon, Sonny & the Sunsets, Lust for Youth, Twin Sister, Milk Music, Pharmakon, Nü Sensae and tons more (phew!). Click here to take a look at a full list of confirmed artists thus far. And, should you want to get a jumpstart on your Northside weekend, click here to check out the Northside schedule. We’ll be adding many, many (many!) more shows between now and June, so be sure to keep in touch, won’t you? You can do that by following us on Twitter and liking us on Facebook for updates, because there’s plenty more coming your way between now and June.
