Tasting Brooklyn Comes to DUMBO

Brooklyn is, without a doubt, one of the most exciting food cities in the world. And we’re not saying that just because we’re kind of paid to.
With such a wealth of dining options, though, it can be kind of a bitch to trek all around the borough just to try them all — not to mention financially unfeasible. That’s where Tasting Brooklyn comes in. On April 16th, over 30 restaurants, bars and food vendors will assemble at the Green Building in DUMBO for the walk-around tasting event. A $50 ticket buys unlimited tastes, or $75 for VIP, which includes early entrance and a schwag bag full of goodies. Not too shabby, considering the price of a subway ride and a cocktail nowadays.
Some of our reliable favorites, like Allswell, Tchoup Shop, Benchmark, and Tanoreen, will all be in attendance, but events like these are all about gauging the new blood. Alice’s Arbor, Elbow Room Brooklyn, Kittery of Brooklyn, and Phin and Phebes are all on our short list this year, and if they can manage to consistently plate hundreds of composed dishes in the span of 4 hours, maintaining temperature and integrity and not resorting to slop served from steam dishes — or groan, crostini — then they’ll definitely warrant a dedicated visit. Hey, with such a high level of talent in Brooklyn nowadays, we have to narrow down our options somehow.
