4 Brooklyn Businesses Still Closed Because of Sandy
After Superstorm Sandy destroyed its inventory and decimated its space, the Fairway supermarket in Red Hook finally reopened this morning, marking a major turning point in the neighborhood’s ongoing restoration. For many New Yorkers the storm and its aftereffects are long-since over, but for others its effects still linger: many people are still without homes; Breezy Point only recently got access to potable water; the R train only recently started running its full route again; some beaches won’t be open this summer; and several well-known businesses and institutions in Brooklyn are still rebuilding.
