Save the Date: Northside 2013 Is Coming!
We’re back!
For the fifth year in a row, the Northside Festival is returning to take over Williamsburg and Greenpoint, bringing the best new music, film, art and technology right into your backyard. Here we go: June 13-20, 2013. That’s 7 days of music, film, ideas and art from Brooklyn and beyond. Mark your calendars, put it in your iPhone, tie a string around your finger, etc. Whatever it takes to remember the most thrilling days that 2013 will have to offer.
Here’s how things will shake out for 2013:
Northside Music: June 13-16
NExT(Northside Entrepreneurship and Technology Expo): June 13-14
Northside Film: June 17-20
There are some changes afoot too. What was called Northside Entrepreneurship in 2011 is going by NExT (June 13-14): Northside Entreprenuership and Technology. In addition to two days of panel discussions, presentations and tech demonstrations from the area’s established business leaders and upstart innovators, we’re bringing a free-to-the-public trade show in a to-be-announced Williamsburg location featuring some of the most exciting companies and start-ups around. With special programming, a job fair to connect young engineers and executives with New York City’s tech opportunities, and hundreds of companies showcasing their solutions and innovations, everyone in New York city will have a chance to experience what’s NExT.
Northside Film (June 17-20) is coming to some new venues this year: in addition to Nitehawk, UnionDocs and indieScreen, you can now catch independent film screenings and Brooklyn premieres at the Wythe Hotel and the brand-spanking-new Videology theater. Plus, Filmmaker Magazine editor Scott Macaulay will be the jury chair of the Northside DIY Film Competition. Speaking of which, have you submitted your film yet? We’re looking for your short and feature films for the 3rd annual Northside Film DIY Competition. Winners will receive cash prizes ($500 for best feature, $250 for best short), an $800 post-production services package from DCTV, a screening at Nitehawk Cinema, and more.
