The Spot: Brooklyn Industries’ Greenpoint Store

The Spot: Brooklyn Industries
The Lowdown: Although this is the hoodie-and-messenger-bag purveyor’s 14th location, in many ways it’s a return to roots—the very first Brooklyn Industries factory, started in 1998, was just five blocks away. That’s not the only way the shop is staying true to its founding philosophy; it’s also an exemplar of sustainability, with just six sheets of sheetrock used in the construction, upcycled fixtures, and power sourced entirely from wind.
The Vibe: Shabby-chic gets a graphic makeover.
The Details: The store will eventually include a Brooklyn Industries museum (watch out, Brooklyn Museum!) and a constantly rotating art installation.
The Buy: Brooklyn and bike culture both get a shout-out on the BK Fixie Eco Hoodie ($58)—why mess with a classic?
The Location: 658 Manhattan Avenue.
