THE WEEKENDER: What to Wear to the Red Hook Ride

You like Red Hook. You like bikes. You like eating and drinking. We’ll go out on a limb and guess that you’ll like this weekend’s Red Hook Ride with 61 Local, too. For their second organized two-wheel tour of the summer, they’re heading to Cacao Prieto a favorite of Brooklyn shop owner Alec Stuart of Stuart & Wright) for some chocolate tasting, followed by a visit to Red Hook Winery for a tour of their local wines. The guided bike ride itself is free, with the tastings at both spots adding just $15 to the day’s bill. Among the many things on their list of items they ask you to bring (bike—duh—helmet, water, cash) are a backpack to “transport home any goodies you purchase along the way” and sunglasses. Here, two of our favorite borough-wide options.
