A&P Will Sell Sunset-Grown Produce
A&P has agreed to sell produce from BrightFarms’s 100,000 square-foot rooftop farm in Sunset Park, Sheepshead Bites reports, which will make locally grown lettuce, tomato and herbs available at local A&Ps, Food Emporiums, Pathmarks and Waldbaum’s stores. Participating locations have not yet been announced.
The farm in Sunset Park is located on the rooftop of Federal Building #2, between Second and Third avenues and 30th and 32nd streets, in a hydroponic greenhouse, expected to yield one million pounds of produce per year. It is the largest rooftop farm in the world, according to BrightFarms.
