Bartender Spotlight: Daniel Robinson
Jameson takes us behind the scenes to present 12 of Brooklyn’s finest bartenders – the heroes who make it all happen. Learn about the hidden talents and signature drinks, tips beyond tipping, and even hear some of their best bar stories. This week’s bartender: Daniel Robinson.
What tip would you give a new bartender that you wish you had known?
Grow some thick skin as quickly as you can, you’ll need it.
What’s your favorite song on your bar’s playlist?
There’s always a bit of country involved, but I like things a little faster so “Overdose Affair” by Mad Sin gets things going.
What’s your signature Jameson cocktail?
Definitely an Irish version of a Kentucky Mule.
What’s your second passion outside of bartending?
Soccer. I love Liverpool FC. They’re tattooed on my arm, and I’ll be there for a couple weeks this fall.
Describe your bar in one word.
Loyal.
Have you ever been starstruck by a customer?
Stephen King ordered a few seltzers in my completely empty bar, years ago. Just him and I in the place and I couldn’t even muster a conversation.
What has bartending taught you about life outside the bar?
Appreciate the people you work with. Not a day goes by that I don’t hang out with my coworkers outside of work. It really is family.
