Shia Labeouf Arrested In Queens After Altercation With Neo-Nazi
It’s been an interesting past few years for Shia Labeouf. The 30-year old, of course jump-started his career as the face of legendary Disney Channel sitcom Even Stevens, before becoming a big movie star for a few years in films like Disturbia, Eagle Eye, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, and the first three Transformers films. In recent years, he’s been involved in various performance art pieces, and also had a very memorable time when he wore a paper bag on his head on a red carpet. Now, he’s been arrested during his planned four-year-long protest of Donald Trump’s time in the White House for an altercation with a Neo-Nazi.
Labeouf’s protest piece ‘He Will Not Divide Us’ is currently—and will continue to be—held in Queens at Museum of the Moving Image. The piece has seen participants, who on Friday included Jaden Smith, among others, chant “He Will Not Divide Us.” Shia himself was chanting this, when he was confronted by a Nazi who said “Hitler did nothing wrong,” at which point the actor confronted him, and allegedly grabbed his scarf and scratched his face. He was arrested not long thereafter. This comes three day after Shia got into a confrontation with a man wearing a Nazi hat, screaming “HE WILL NOT DIVIDE US” in his face.
It also follows noted Nazi Richard Spencer being punched in the face in Washington, at the inauguration.
According to Reuters, LaBeouf was released after being charged with misdemeanor assault and harassment, the police spokesman said. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 4. The man speaking about Hitler was not arrested for his part in the altercation.
