The-Dream Dropped An Album Of Sam Cooke Covers Just In Time For Christmas
As one of R&B’s most popular stars goes through a public meltdown, another of its quietest forces has blessed us with a Christmas gift. Today, The-Dream has shared not simply a Sam Cooke album, but an eight-track album of covers entitled IAMSAM just in time for the holiday.
On Instagram he shared his personal motivation for recording the covers — which he apparently did way back in 2010 during sessions for Beyonce’s highly-underrated album 4 — and dedicates the album to his mother:
My Mother loved a lot of Artist growing up, but the one we shared the most interest in together was Sam Cooke, so Tonight I give him back to her. These songs were originally recording during the making of @beyonce ‘s 4 album in 2010 w my good Friend Pat Thrall. My mother passed on the 23rd day of December in 1992.
God bless us, everyone. Stream it below.
