Watch London Trio Daughter’s Shadowy, Mysterious “Numbers” Video

Daughter Numbers VideoBleeding folk-rock trio Daughter shared “Doing The Right Thing,” the initial single off their sophomore album Not To Disappear, via a a devastating, lonely video directed by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard. That clip was the first in a series of three videos, and today they’ve shared the second installment for “Numbers.” It’s a dark, shadowy tale of a femme fatale caught up in intrigue and violence. This is one of my favorite songs on the record because of this line: “I feel numb / I feel numb in this kingdom.” The contrast of a kingdom’s grand scope and the hollow emptiness of a single person’s numbness ties into the heart of what Daughter continually grapple with: How does my solitary pain interact with the beauty of the universe? I’ll let you read your own answers to that into the video below.
