Here We Are, Summer Is Over: Porches Close Out “Brooklyn Live at the Flea” This Sunday
On my way to work I saw a man and a woman dressed from head to toe in white, either a defiant declaration against the changing tides of the season… or maybe they were members of a cult. We’re going to go with the former. Our free outdoor concert series Brooklyn Live at the Flea is winding down for the season — a big thanks to all the bands and fans who made it out — but we’re also refusing to let it go without one more throwdown.
So, yeah, we’re kinda bummed about summer ending. Porches‘ smudgy pop perfectly soundtracks those feelings. They’ll be joined this Sunday at the Flea by Nap Eyes, the Canadians behind one of our favorite garage-pop records of the year, and Adult Mom, the New Yorkers behind one of our favorite bedroom-pop albums of the year. Together, they’re an unassuming triple threat of melody and catharsis.
You’ll want to RSVP here, right and quick. Gates to the Brooklyn Flea in Williamsburg (at 50 Kent Avenue) will open at 10am on Sunday, per usual, with music starting at 3pm and wrapping up around 6pm. Summer, we hardly knew ya. Let’s make this count.
