Brooklyn in a Band’s Eyes: Fort Lean’s Photo Diary of the Neighborhood

Fort Lean Press Shot 2

When Fort Lean isn’t touring with Chappo, Yukon Blonde and Dave Monks (of Tokyo Police Club), the five-piece band is hanging out in its borough–and gearing up for a big LP release. Their newest single, “Easily,” is out while the band preps for its debut album release, Quiet Day, in October.

Meanwhile, we asked the bandmembers of Fort Lean to share with us what their day-to-day life in Brooklyn looks like. Needless to say, it’s a whimsical and weird look into the lives of the next big thing out of Brooklyn. Be prepared for a strange look into New York City.

“Rancho relaxo- when your dayo gets too intenso.”
“Even though it’s 105 degrees out, it’s good to bundle up to protect yourself from chem trail skin penetration.”
“All good delis have cats to keep their beer insulated.”
“This is where we buy all of our tour rations.”
“Our van has no air conditioning, so on tour we cool it with ice cream.”
“Best falafel and e-cigarettes in all of Greenpoint.”
“You have too keep an eye out for beauty in this city, Like this gorgeous leaf in a muddle of street-gore…”
“…Or the reflections in America’s most polluted waterway, the Gowanus Canal.”

“I spend my days in delis.”
“Like most respectable gentlemen, the Lean Boys never leave home without their finest haberdashery…”
“…Or their finest leather undergarments.”
“Simple recipe.”

“Chinatown pork on rice is the city’s best multi-course meal you can get for the price of a single ride Metrocard.”
