NYPD Officer Kills Unarmed Brooklyn Man
A 28-year-old man is dead after an NYPD officer shot and killed him in the stairwell of the Louis H. Pink Houses in East New York last night. The incident took place late last night, when two officers on patrol encountered the man on the eight floor of the stairs. The unnamed victim was shot in the chest and taken to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Witnesses say that the man was unarmed.
The man did not live in the building; according to the New York Times, he was there to get his hair braided with his girlfriend. A witness told the paper that the police did not identify themselves. “The cop didn’t present himself, he just shot him in the chest,” she said. “They didn’t see their face or nothing. They didn’t say anything.”
Though details on what exactly happened, including the identity of both the victim and the patrolman that shot him, remain sketchy, this doesn’t look good for the NYPD in the wake of the death of Eric Garner, and the ongoing turmoil in Fergusion. Bulletins as events warrant.
