Taylor Swift Wrote A Song About New York
One of New York’s most recent celebrity imports, Taylor Swift, has dedicated a whole song to her new home on her upcoming album 1989. Gawrsh, little old us? A song? You shouldn’t have.
Below is the thirty-second clip, which is as good as we’re getting until the album drops later this month.
It’s very pop-y and enthusiastic and optimistic about the delights of New York, because Swift has yet to be crushed by the ongoing garbage compactor-like vise that is the city. Like her other singles for 1989, the infectious “Shake It Off” and the proves-she-would-suck-at-orienteering “Out of the Woods,” it’s clearly nourished on the synthy grind of 80s pop.
“I approached moving there with such wide-eyed optimism and sort of saw it as a place of endless potential and possibilities,” Swift told Good Morning America. “You can kind of hear that reflected in this music and this first song especially.”
Indeed. Next album: Goodbye to All That-ing, Taylor Swift style.
