The 2014 Brooklyn Restaurant Preview: Everywhere You’re Going to Want to Eat this Year
Concorde: Never heard of Hopeland? Despite the lovely space and appealingly rustic Southern Italian dishes, the restaurant just couldn’t find a toehold in sleepy Boerum Hill. Cue Doug Crowell and Ryan Angulo of Buttermilk Channel, two guys with a proven track record for drawing in the locals. Although instead of serving classic American fare, like at their Carroll Gardens staple (all hail the chicken and waffles and pecan pie sundae), the duo is going the French bistro route with their brand new venture, featuring garlicky escargot, towering raw shellfish plateaus, and hulking steaks served with sauces and sides.
