New Yorkers Can’t Get Enough Of Female Authors
After all the much needed recent debate over the respect (or more often, lack thereof) our culture tends to give to female authors, some genuinely welcome news: according to the New York Public Library’s list of 2013’s most frequently checked-out books, books written by women are burning up the charts (insofar as books can be considered to “burn up the charts.”)
Seven out of the top ten most popular adult fiction titles were written by women with Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl leading the pack, and Lean In was the top non-fiction title of the year. Full list (and vague sense of comfort with the trajectory of our culture) below:
