Marty Markowitz On Brooklyn: “We remain the lesbian capital of New York City and the Northeast”
In an interview with WNYC yesterday, the outgoing Borough President told Brian Lehrer, “We remain the lesbian capital of New York City and the Northeast. In other words, we have a much larger lesbian population in Brooklyn. New York City is fortunate to have a large LGBT community, but in Brooklyn in particular, the lesbian community, there’s no question it’s the capital of the Northeast.”
Markowitz added, “They’ve made unbelievable contributions to the quality of life in our city and our borough.” Which, of course, no one here would argue with at all. We just never really thought of it as a competition, and, per usual, no one has a way of phrasing things quite like Marty Markowitz (and apparently this has been a recurring theme for him). But anyway, we’ll take it! Welcome to Brooklyn, Lesbian Capital of the Northeast.
