10 Antiheroes in Literature That We Love to Hate
And so Breaking Bad is over and we’ve had to bid farewell to one of the most morally complicated (or maybe just plain Satanic?) characters ever created. Goodbye, Walter White, goodbye. But how shall we fill our need for finely rendered fictional men and women who can’t be easily categorized as good or bad? Or, well, even if they can definitely be categorized as bad, they still remain perversely likable. What I’m trying to say is, everyone loves an antihero, or at least everyone loves the antiheroes that they don’t have to deal with in their real lives. Television has been a rich place for antiheroes lately (Walter White, Don Draper, Tony Soprano, Nancy Botwin, Stringer Bell, even Hannah Horvath), but none of those characters are on the air right now, so let’s turn to another place that’s ripe with good/bad characters: fiction. Here are some of our favorite characters that we love to hate. Or, sometimes, just love to love.
