Where to Eat on Valentine’s Day

This wholly unpretentious Prospect Heights restaurant is dialing down the quirk factor just slightly for VDay (horseradish and bacon sandwiches, beer-battered squash rolls, and carrot-parsnip pancakes with sautéed greens haven’t made the menu). $65pp buys a refined, three-course spread (plus bonus bonbons from Chocolat Moderne). Look for pork belly and frisee salad, pan-seared duck breast with pecans, Brussels sprouts, and cranberry vinegar, and candy apple pie with sour cream gelato.
