Man Robs Three Banks in 30 Minutes
A bankrobber hit three Kings Highway financial institutions within blocks of each other in half an hour on Friday, Sheepshead Bites reports. Two of them handed over cash. The first of the banks, all on the Midwood-Homecrest border, was an Apple Bank near E. 14th Street, where he handed over a note around 2:15pm and left with cash; he did not brandish a weapon. Fifteen minutes later, he hit the second, a Capital One at E. 15th Street, which he left empty handed after handing over another note. He hit the third at around 2:40pm, an HSBC near E. 17th Street, where he again handed over a note and again left with money. “It’s very unusual for a guy to do three banks in a row, that close together, and to stay in the same area,” a retired detective told the New York Times. “He’s nonsectarian about which bank he goes to. Any bank is open play for him.”
“The robber was described as Hispanic, about 5’7″, and 150 pounds,” the Times reports. “He wore black pants, a red shirt and a red baseball hat.”
“He took it from the right place,” writes one New York Post commenter. “Now when they catch him… he’ll do more time than some wall street crook who’s stolen hundreds of millions…….go figure….”
