Ah, the Duke of Flatbush, one of Brooklyn’s legendary Boys of Summer… It really doesn’t get much more iconic than the great Dodger centerfielder and major league baseball Hall of Famer. Originally from LA, the Duke made a splash with Brooklyn in 1949, setting the tone for decade of Dodger success. Insofar as Brooklyn loved its ball team, it loved Snider, who was at the heart of one of the best lineups in baseball; he narrowly missed out the MVP award in 1955, to teammate Roy Campanella (the year the Trolley Dodgers won the World Series, don’t you know).
