Of Course Williamsburg is Getting Its Own Rolex Store
The Swiss watchmaker's first brick-and-mortar in Brooklyn is coming to a glammed-up stretch of North 6th Street
It should come as no surprise whatsoever that Williamsburg, the current home of all luxury brands looking to impact North Brooklyn (and seemingly no other part of the borough), is about to get another high-end storefront. The neighborhood’s latest tenant is none other than Rolex, the Swiss manufacturer of notoriously expensive and highly coveted watches.
According to The Commercial Observer, Rolex has signed a 15-year lease for 86 North 6th Street, a unit at the corner of Wythe Avenue, directly across the street from a Glossier and Nike’s outpost in the neighborhood, on a stretch that’s just a few doors down from Hermes and a Chanel store. The 3,767-square-foot retail space will be Rolex’s first official location in Brooklyn, and only its second in the entire city (though it sells watches through a number of Bucherer stores in Manhattan, and a few pre-owned retailers certified by the company, only one of which is in Kings County).
The watchmaker’s arrival is likely good news for those in the market for the types of pieces that catch stray eyes on the sidewalk and get wrist-checked by social media influencers like Mike Nouveau, but you’ll still need to make the trek up to Midtown or down to Kings Highway to get your Explorer, Submariner, or Datejust serviced by a verified technician stamped by whatever Swiss committee hands down those certifications.
A date for the store’s opening has yet to be announced. Stay tuned for updates in the weeks and months ahead.
