Brooklyn Mirage Cancels Another Weekend of Shows

It’s been an unenviable run for Brooklyn Mirage these last few weeks. First, they pull the plug on opening weekend just hours ahead of their first performance. Then, the venue was (presumably) forced to do the same the following weekend. And now, it seems they’ve quietly cleared yet another weekend of programming after failing a safety inspection on May 1.

It marks their third consecutive week of cancellations, relocations, and delays. Last weekend, the venue postponed appearances from Loud Luxury (now slated for August 2) and Cloonee (offloaded to Brooklyn Storehouse). This weekend, shows from UK ravers Underworld, house DJ duo The Martinez Brothers, and dance music producer Peggy Gou are being impacted. While the Underworld and Martinez Brothers shows have been relocated to the Kings Theater and Brooklyn Storehouse, respectively, Gou’s performance has been cancelled outright. “New York it pains me to say this, but due to circumstances beyond our control, my show at Brooklyn Mirage this Sunday won’t be able to take place,” Gou wrote in an Instagram post earlier this week, noting refund information would soon be sent to ticketholders. The producer added that her team was working on rescheduling the performance.

For their part, neither the venue nor its CEO Josh Wyatt, who told Brooklyn Magazine the venue would “100%” be ready to open on May 1, posted anything since May 7. All public-facing details about Brooklyn Mirage’s cancellations have arrived through the artists slated to perform. And it remains unclear when the venue will be able to safely open in accordance with the city’s guidelines.
