Coachella Has Something for Everyone This Year
Aaaaaand we’re off. The US’s Music Festival announcement season officially kicked off into full swing this afternoon, as Goldenvoice officially released the lineup for Coachella 2017, backed by massive headliners Radiohead, Beyoncé, and Kendrick Lamar. The Indio, California festival has traditionally been the first major festival to make its lineup announcement, setting the flood gates to open for the rest of the players throughout the year.
This year, the festival’s lineup is looking especially stout, and not only with impressive headliners—the bill also has second-liners such as the xx, Travis Scott, Bon Iver, Future, Father John Misty, ScHoolboy Q, Gucci Mane, Lorde, and Future Islands. They even have Hans Zimmer—yes, the film composer—on the bill for Sunday, doing a set of his own. Can you imagine?
There’s some gold found throughout this lineup, even on the bottom lines: Twin Peaks and Car Seat Headrest snuck in there, along with Brooklyn Magazine cover stars Mitski and The Lemon Twigs. Experimental music fans have Nicholas Jaar near the top of the bill, and the always jovial acts of Mac DeMarco and DJ Khaled (imagine clumping them together in any other sentence) also show up on the lineup.
Coachella will continue to be held on two separate weekends in April: this year, on both 14-16, and 21-23. Check out the lineup announcement tweet below:
