Eat All The Foods for $10 at Bushwick’s Tchoup Shop
There’s not much that can be had for $10 nowadays, save for three and a half subway rides, a cluster of oysters during happy hour, or a single Mast Brother’s chocolate bar. Certainly, it barely covers the cost of a semi-decent sandwich, precisely what makes Tchoup Shop’s lunchtime deal so unprecedented.
Now that the former Cajun-Creole pop-up is responsible for a full-time food program at Bushwick bar, Heavy Woods, they’ve had to be fairly resourceful in order to stand out from the crowds on increasingly restaurant-populated Wyckoff Avenue. Enter their week-long “Make You Holla” promotion—i.e., a three-course meal for a ten-spot—available from 11am-4pm Mondays through Fridays.
And chef Simon Glenn isn’t exactly serving steam tray slop either. Daily-changing lineups have included potato leek soup with crawfish tails, followed by individual Amish chicken pot pies and pecan praline bread pudding, as well as avocado and chicory salad, fried chicken with the works and butterscotch pudding, and beef borscht and porcini-pork meatballs over cheddar grits, superseded by slices of house-baked chess pie.
Which means you should have plenty of scratch left over for drink specials like bloody marys, mimosas and frozen hurricanes, commanding a mere $3 or $5 for a refill—you can scarcely score a bite of a golden donut for that.
