This Year’s Labor Day West Indian Parade in Photos
Despite the tragic violence during J’ouvert this year, the Labor Day West Indian Parade itself went off without a hitch. With nearly three million attendees, it is one of New York’s largest parades. When it first began in the 1920’s, it took place in Harlem and, subsequently, in the 1960s, moved to Crown Heights. I am always overwhelmed by the incredible positive energy, friendliness, creativity, and diversity found among its participants. Here is just a small selection of photos that display this spirit from this year’s parade.
