Archie Lee Coates IV, co-founder of PlayLab, +POOL, and the architecture magazine CLOG, and Emily Coates, a freelance UX product designer, live in an enviably large loft in a former tea factory in Williamsburg with their cat Akiva. How long have you lived at your current residence?
Six years.

The courtyard entrance.
If you could change one thing about your home, what would it be?
More light, less cavernous.

How big it is.

Whatever feels good.

Toss up between the Joan Miró lithograph and our cat Akiva.

Wanna say chill with friends, but it’s probably watching movies.
What’s your favorite spot in the house?
The Cooper Hewitt shelves—everything ends up there.
What makes a house a home?
Human beings.

Diner.

Distance from the train.
What’s your happiest memory in your home?
The day we walked in and knew it was ours.
