Help Chris Farren Save Christmas By Watching His Zany “Chris Farren’s Disney’s Frozen” Video
Chris Farren is a wildly prolific earnest punk musician out of Florida who has helped helm Fake Problems, Antarctigo Vespucci (with Jeff Rosenstock of Bomb The Music Industry!), and also works as a solo artist. One of the projects he threw himself into last year was the perfectly titled Like A Gift From God Or Whatever, an original Christmas album of emo proportions. Though that record came out in 2014, holiday albums are evergreen (ha!), and Farren has returned with a new video to accompany one of the tracks, “Chris Farren’s Disney’s Frozen.” It’s a zany, stop-motion clip created by “Wine & Pop Tarts” that channels the same silly delight as the song’s namesake film.
Here’s Farren’s explanation for the song’s impetus, and how the video came to be:
In the middle of writing Like A Gift From God Or Whatever, I watched the movie Frozen for the first time and basically became obsessed. I wrote this song loosely based on the movie and mixed in some personal experience. The video comes from a group of people who go by “Wine & Pop Tarts” who hit me up out of the blue wanting to make a music video for a different song, and I bullied them into making a one-minute stop motion video for an insane Christmas song. They knocked it out of the park. It’s so silly and also I’m not sure if it’s legal to have so many beloved cartoon characters in it, which makes me feel like I’m living dangerously and I love to be a bad boy.

As for the album itself, it features of plenty other characters who run in the same or similar circles as Farren, including: Jenny Owen Youngs, Laura Stevenson, Jeff Rosenstock, Sean Bonnette (of Andrew Jackson Jihad), Anika Pyle (of Chumped), Allison Weiss and Mae Whitman (of Arrested Development and Parenthood). Furthermore, it’s now available on vinyl for the first time.
Keeping with the Christmas spirit, Antarctigo Vespucci will be playing their nearly-annual benefit show on 12/14 at Shea Stadium w/ Cymbals Eat Guitars, Laura Stevenson and Mikey Erg. All the proceeds from the door will go to Safe Horizon, an organization that helps rehabilitate victims of violence. At the show they’ll also be collecting coats for the New York Cares coat drive and unused toys for Safe Horizon. Stream the whole album below to get a taste of what you’re in for, then bring some coats and toys and check out the show next week.
