And the Greenest Blocks in Brooklyn Are…
And the awards for the Greenest Residential and Commercial Blocks in Brooklyn go to… Macon Street between Ralph and Howard Avenues in Bed-Stuy and Montague Street between Clinton and Henry Streets in Brooklyn Heights.
Along with awards like Best Window Box and Best Community Garden Streetscape, Brooklyn Botanic Garden has been quietly judging the greenest streets of Brooklyn since 2010. Every year, a panel of qualified judges walk the streets of Brooklyn looking for standouts. According to BBG’s site, “The purpose of the Greenest Block in Brooklyn Contest is to promote streetscape gardening, tree stewardship, and community development in the borough of Brooklyn.”
Macon Street and Montague Street join past winners like Sterling Street between Bedford and Washington Avenues and Atlantic Avenue between Bond and Nevins Streets.
