A Brazilian Record Fair, Super Bowl LX, Babyxsosa, and 19 More Things to Do This Weekend
Everything you can do up to and through the big game
Whether you’ve got a deep-rooted interest in the Seahawks and Pats, are in it for the parlays (or the commercials), or only care about Benito, you’re going to need something to do for the days leading up to the big game. And if you have no interest in football at all, we’ve got amazing suggestions for Sunday as well (plus, a great spot to watch some football, if you’re so inclined). Check it all out below in the Weekend Guide below.

Thursday, February 5
Opus House Presents: New Relationship Energy @ Cheyelle
7 p.m.
We’re probably all guilty of spending too much time viewing the world through our machines. That’s something this event is set up to counter. The night is a salon, with performances including readings, music, and comedy. You’re encouraged to “slow down, experience art, and connect with ideas and each other.”
An Evening of Romances with 831 Stories @ Greenlight Bookstore
7:30 p.m.
Indie romance publisher 831 Stories presents five of its authors in discussion with Lindsey Weber, co-host of the delightful and addictive podcast Who? Weekly. There will also be an audience Q&A, book signing, and a wine reception afterwards.
Removal of the Eye Screening and Q&A with Directors Artemis Shaw and Prashanth Kamalakanthan @ Nitehawk Cinema
7:30 p.m.
Removal of the Eye is a new comedy about the surreal world of new parenthood, starring the directors’ real-life parents and son. Check it out and then hear from the filmmakers themselves.
Baby’s Presents: Porches, A 10-Year Anniversary Solo Performance of Pool @ St. John’s Lutheran Church
10 p.m.
It’s been an uncool decade since NYC-based pop experimentalist Porches released his sophomore studio album. And what better way to celebrate its sustained resonance than to hear it in a live solo setup, rattling between the walls of a historic church in Greenpoint?

First Novel Friday: Jean, I Hope You Find What You’re Looking For, and The Copywriter @ The Center for Fiction
6 p.m.
Debut novels can be something really special. Often, they’re the first time we really get to experience a writer’s worldview and talents. Tonight, you can get that feeling three times in a row as Madeleine Dunnigan (Jean), Bsrat Mezghebe (I Hope You Find What You’re Looking For), and Daniel Poppick (The Copywriter) give readings, and then engage in a conversation moderated by author Cleyvis Natera.
The Caribbean Skate Night @ Xanadu Roller Arts
7 p.m. (skating); 11:30 p.m. (dance party)
This “Trinidad Carnival sendoff” will have the best in reggae, dancehall, soca, and more spun by a bunch of top DJs. There will also, true to the night’s theme, be Caribbean food by BK Halal Grill. Come early for the skating, or late for the dancing (or just stay the whole time and do both).
Champion Sounds: A Prelude to “Donuts are Forever 20” with Dan Charnas, Joseph Patel, JWordz, and Laron @ BRIC
7 p.m.
February 7 marks what would have been the 52nd birthday of the late and wildly influential producer J Dilla, which is typically celebrated by gatherings of musicians, academics, writers, and all denominations of diehard in between. This particular toast to the beat maker is hosted by culture worker Timmhotep Aku, and features features a panel comprised Oscar-winning film producer Joseph Patel (Summer of Soul and the Sly Stone documentary Sly Lives!), educator and New York Times best-seller Dan Charnas (author of the definitive Dilla biography/methodology deconstruction, Dilla Time: The Life and Afterlife of J Dilla, the Hip-Hop Producer Who Reinvented Rhythm), and music provided by local producers JWordz and Laron.
Perfect Registration: A Speed Dating Event for Creative Connection or More @ Secret Riso Club
7 p.m.
Come for the creative connections, stay for the “or more” at this lighting round of purely platonic courtship that leaves a little room for love.
Babyxsosa @ Elsewhere
7:30 p.m.
Kim K’s daughter’s favorite rapper brings her show to BK’s hippest club. It remains to be seen whether Babyxsosa will play her North West-produced tracks, but either way, this is set to be a breakout appearance.
BE MY BABY: A Motown Soul Party @ Littlefield
10:30 p.m.
A new dance party debuts at Littlefield tonight. DJ Little Sally is a Motor City original, so you can bet she knows her Motown. Show up for the best in Motown, Stax, and other era-appropriate grooves.

Tropicalia in Furs’ Rare Brazilian Vinyl Warehouse Sale @ Pilgrim Supply
12 p.m.
Famed Brazilian DJ and record collector Joel Stones is returning to Kings County with another colossal haul of imported wax. He’ll be posting up at Pilgrim in Williamsburg all weekend long, crates crammed with rarities you won’t find tucked into dollar bins or slung across the walls of any record store here (or anywhere in the country, for that matter).
First Saturday: Imitate No One @ Brooklyn Museum
5 p.m.
First Saturdays are back. The Brooklyn Museum’s monthly party kicks off for 2026 with this Black History Month event, the title of which is inspired by the late poet Jayne Cortez. This evening is inspired by the museum’s current Seydou Keïta exhibit. It’ll feature live music, a pop-up market, DJs, guided tours, hands-on art, and a tribute to Cortez, the last of which will have readings by notable writers and a performance by her band The Firespitters.
Krystle Warren & The Faculty @ Public Records
7 p.m.
France-based singer Krystle Warren is getting the band back together this weekend for a run on the stage and through the speakers of the Public Records sound room. It’s their first stateside performance in seven years, and it’s bound to be a spell of a homecoming set.
Lola Kirke @ National Sawdust
7:30 p.m.
Daughter of the Bad Company drummer. Sister of Jessa from Girls. Lola Kirke has quite a family tree—one interesting enough that she just dropped a memoir-in-essays about her time growing up. She’s also a well-regarded musician who has released a new country album, Trailblazer. Odetta, Storey Littleton, and Calder the Destroyer open.
ALLEYCVT @ Brooklyn Steel
8 p.m.
DJ, producer, and singer/songwriter ALLEYCVT’s 9 Lives Tour is in town. Her signature mix of pop vocals and heavy bass will tear up the stage. Zen Selekta and Cozy Kev open.
Mixology: D.O.T. Audio, An Evening of Difficult Music @ Roulette
8 p.m.
Roulette’s Mixology Festival has been an annual showcase of “novel approaches to technology in music and media arts” since 1991. This particular sliver of this year’s installment spotlights D.O.T. Audio Arts musicians and technologists, and challenges the notion that anything should be “easy listening,” with performances from three D.O.T. artists, including Decimus, Thought Broadcast, and African-American Sound Recordings.
Gary Owen: No Hard Feelings Tour @ Kings Theatre
8 p.m.
Owen has been on the comedy scene for decades, but he’s managed to make a strong pivot into the social media age, with millions of Instagram followers and his own podcast. Come check him out, and maybe you’ll fall victim to his patented crowd work.
Save The Rep with Donis @ The Rep Music Cafe
9 p.m.
The Bed-Stuy cafe and event space remains in crowdfunding mode, and they’re raising bags with another crucial set set from a local selector. This one’s hosted by the good folks at Frontyard.fm, and will feature an open bar from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. for those who donate (sliding scale, with a $10 minimum).

4 p.m.
Hercules & Love Affair is the long-running project led by Andy Butler. Butler is many things: bandleader, singer, songwriter, musician. But he’s also one hell of a DJ, as you’ll find out here.
2026 Super Bowl LX Watch Party @ Brooklyn Art Haus
6 p.m.
You’re going to watch the big game somewhere, so it may as well be on the Art Haus’ giant sixteen-foot screen. Plenty of drinks and food will be on hand.
