Weekend Guide: Yaya Bey, Seltzer Fest, St. Patty’s Day, The Oscars, and More
When r&b, egg creams, Werner Herzog, and whoever "The Academy" is collide
Rarely do we get a weekend with not just one, but two holidays. But lucky us, here we are! While St. Patrick’s Day is technically next Tuesday, celebrations—including our borough’s parade—kick off this weekend. And Sunday is The Oscars, the ever-reliable and ceremonial celebration of Hollywood and who-and-what-ever “The Academy” is.
But that’s far from all we’ve got for you this weekend. The best in music, parties, film, comedy, and even, uh, seltzer awaits you below in this latest Weekend Guide.

Thursday, March 12
Yaya Bey @ BAMcafé
7 p.m.
Bey, the singer-songwriter daughter of the late rap legend Grand Daddy I.U., has been making waves lately, especially with her latest project do it afraid, and a new one reportedly already on the way. DJ Ayanna Heaven opens up.
Black Liberation: The Silent Revolution @ MoCADA Culture Lab II
7 p.m.
Billed as “an authentic outcry coming from the Black people of America,” this 1967 documentary had Malcolm X involved in its production and is narrated by Ossie Davis. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion that will include artist, educator, writer, and organizer Shellyne Rodriguez and Cresa Pugh, an assistant professor of Sociology at The New School for Social Research.
Redirect One-Year Anniversary @ Good Room
10 p.m.
After taking the winter off, Redirect is back! The party returns with Kilopatrah Jones, Mike Servito, Bags, and Skoglund in the big room, and Tomás Urquieta, Erik Braun, and HNDRNC in the Bad Room.
Third Floor Sounds Presents: Foundations, with Analog Soul, Tee Em Dee, and DJ Shannon @ H0l0
10 p.m.
One of the internet’s best parties is building out an IRL extension right here in NYC. Sure, it requires a trip to Ridgewood, but we couldn’t think of a better reason to head that far east down Flushing for the night.

Friday, March 13
FLIRT: A Soft Launch Party @ Mood Ring
7 p.m.
At this late-night happy hour, you can choose one of three bracelets: “Single & Flirty,” “It’s Complicated,” or “Wingman.” From there, let the chips (and bracelets) fall where they may.
Chris Wrenn in conversation with Drew Stone about Fenway Punk @ POWERHOUSE Arena
7 p.m.
The story of Boston hardcore label Bridge Nine Records is so weird that it must be true: Its finances came from selling “Yankees Suck” memorabilia outside Fenway Park. Label founder Chris Wrenn has documented the wild tale in a new book, and he’ll be discussing it tonight.
“Synesthesia” with Todd Barry, Nataly Aukar, Music, and More @ Littlefield
7:30 p.m.
As the name indicates, this is a multi-disciplinary night, involving both music and comedy. Barry and Aukar will be joined by Zac Amico and Boris Khaykin, and music will be provided by Joy on Fire and MOTHR.
The World of Drum and Bass NYC 2026 @ One77
10 p.m.
This tour promises the full spectrum of D&B, and it definitely delivers. The UK-heavy bill includes Bladerunner, Danny Byrd, Murdock, DJ SS, Document One, and many more.

Saturday, March 14
Night in the Library: The Philosophy of Mathematics @ Brooklyn Central Library
7 p.m.
BPL’s all-night festivals are always packed with amazingness, and this one is no different. The keynote speaker is Werner Herzog. But beyond that, there are hours’ worth of absolutely fascinating lectures and events centered around math, philosophy, paradoxes, and proofs, as well as dogs to hang out with! Check the schedule here.
St. Lucia @ Brooklyn Steel
8 p.m.
The husband-and-wife duo will be performing two sets tonight. That’s appropriate, given that their latest album, Fata Morgana, was released in two parts: Dawn came out last March, and Dusk just a few months ago in December.
The New Edition Way Tour with Toni Braxton and Boyz II Men @ Barclays Center
8 p.m.
A queen and many kings of eighties and 90s r&b will be holding court at the corner of Atlantic and Flatbush this weekend. That’s Braxton, Brown, Biv, Bell, DeVoe, Gill, Stockman, and the Morris brothers all under one roof. Seats are available, but limited. Grab yours today via Ticketmaster.
BRIC House Party presents, Fun With Friends @ BRIC House
9 p.m.
Fun With Friends is a party, sure. But it’s also a community—one you can join by showing up to this party that includes DJs, visual projections, and a photo exhibit. Performers include DJ Kendollaz, Sounds of Reality, DJ Mohogany, and more.
GRID and DJs Against Apartheid Present: wahala.wav, Radicchio, chicas over rice, and more @ Honey’s
9 p.m.
Some of the borough’s best and most community-minded selectors are gathering at the Bushwick mead bar (with a stellar skyline view from the roof) to raise money for Al-Ahrar, an organization working to spread awareness and advocacy for the release of Palestinian prisoners. All promoter proceeds from the event will go to the group.
St. Patrick’s Day Party @ Dive Bar
10 p.m.
What better way to celebrate St. Patty’s Day than with reggaeton and salsa? Okay, so we admit it’s not a perfect fit, but you’ll be dancing way too much to care. 21 and up, and make sure to dress stylishly.

Sunday, March 15
Brooklyn St. Patrick’s 5K, 10K & Half Marathon @ Veterans Memorial Pier
9:30 a.m.
Start your holiday off with a run down an absolutely stunning stretch of the Belt Parkway. Gorgeous waterfront views and the Verrazano Bridge are included.
Brooklyn SeltzerFest 2026 @ Five Two A Event Space
11 a.m.
Head out to Industry City for all things seltzer. You’ll taste seltzers from all around the world, experience seltzer-themed art and games, and view the absolutely essential 3rd National Egg Cream Invitational.
Stray Rats Presents: “ÑOoo QUE RICO!!” @ Secret Coffee
11 a.m.
There will be drip of all sorts when two great banners repping two great cities join forces in a tiny mall on Broadway, slinging Cuban coffee, pastelitos, and, naturally, some merch.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade @ Bartel Pritchard Square
1 p.m.
The annual parade is a community favorite. You weren’t going to get anywhere near that other one, right?
Wax The Van’s Record Fair @ Good Bar
1 p.m.
The only thing occasionally better than a Good Room (see above) is a Good Bar. And if it happens to have a ton of wax for sale, all the better. Should that sound like a pleasant Sunday afternoon to you, pull up, dig, and grab some essentials.
Beers and Baked Goods with New York Irish for Palestine @ Ginger’s Bar
3 p.m.
This Sunday’s for drinking and snacking with purpose at this Park Slope watering hole, where money collected from the bake sale will be donated to mutual aid projects and programs in Gaza and Lebanon.
Oscars Watch Party @ farm.one
6:30 p.m.
You’ve gotta watch the Oscars somewhere, so why not at this unique indoor farm-slash-cocktail bar? There will be food, trivia, and, of course, ballots to fill out, with the best guessers eligible for prizes.
