Five Food Stalls You Need to Try at Planet Brooklyn
From dazzling dosas to crucial Korean fried chicken sandwiches to fiercely-filled coco bread concoctions and beyond
We are officially at T-minus 10 days from Planet Brooklyn landing. And if you plan on joining us in its orbit on August 23 and 24, a steady supply of properly seasoned and reliably delicious fuel is a must. So, we combed the extensive list of local vendors pulling up for the festival’s debut season to make sure everyone’s eating good and plenty on their respective voyages. From dazzling dosas to crucial Korean fried chicken sandwiches to fiercely-filled coco bread concoctions and beyond, there are no misses in sight.
Scope out some of the stars of Planet Brooklyn’s Vendors’ Village below, and head over to the festival’s site to see the full line-up of food stalls.

Coco Bred
After winning over the hearts and hungers of countless at Smorgasburg—not to mention the ultra-prestigious stamp of our very own Scott Lynch—Coco Bred is coming through with their signature Jamaican sammies. “These are part family recipes, and part my own. I’ve lived all over the world, so at Coco Bred I’ve taken my global experience and mixed it with Jamaican flavors,” glowed chef Jaime Randle at a season preview earlier this year. Whether it’s coconut curry, jerk chicken, curry goat, or, of course, oxtail, you’re craving, Coco’s got your fix.

Rokstar Chicken
You may have come across the stunningly crispy and sauced-up birds of Rokstar Chicken on a late-night tear along Manhattan Avenue’s embarrassment of after-hours spoils. In case you haven’t, though, the Korean fried chicken spot, which is now sporting five locations across the city, is bringing fresh, fried (and halal-certified!) wings, dips, and sandos to the Vendors’ Village at Planet Brooklyn. And we couldn’t imagine a more perfect accompaniment to this massive, intricate network of free block parties, towering sound systems, and streetside dance floors.

African Chop House
Anytime African Chop House pulls up, it’s a fete of food and community. And while we can’t be sure what they’re plotting for the Planet Brooklyn voyage, we can, at the very least, hope it has something to do with those African chopped cheeses they’ve been slinging at recent Family Style appearances in Las Vegas, and more recently, right here in Brooklyn. If not, don’t fret—whatever Chop House arrives with will be well worth a few very vibey minutes in line.

DOSA by Lore
If you’re not familiar with Chef Jay Kumar and DOSA, his Michelin-bibbed, Fareed Zakaria-approved (and BKMAG-recommended) Lore spinoff, there’s no time like now to get acquainted. Kumar’s stall has been firing top-shelf variants of its namesake dish at Smorgasburg this season, and already seems poised for a proper brick-and-mortar move at some point soon, joining Lore in lighting up palettes with daal, tomato chutney, and gunpowder spice snuggly stuffed into a very potent and portable cone.

Likkle More Jerk
A low-key gem at both Barclays and DeKalb Market’s surprisingly deep food hall, Likkle More Jerk is quickly becoming one of the borough’s premier purveyors of front-loaded Jamaican spice and gorgeously charred meats. But what we’re really excited to see is some iteration of that beautiful, gut-busting oxtail jerk burrito that graced the menu a few months back, a concept so innovatively simple it almost demands its own stall.
