Out of the Closet: At Home with 5 of Brooklyn’s Fashion Elite

Metz is a relatively recent arrival to New York, but she’s quickly made an impression with her unerring sense of style. We visited her in her Williamsburg home to take a peek at her beautifully curated closet.
1. Best Bang-for-Buck Item
The cotton daisy print mini has been my summer go to dress for a few years now. It’s a vintage dress that I picked up from The Loved One and have worn it so frequently that the armpit seams need stitching every
few wears.
2. Most Worn Item
The brown-and-white striped dress is my dream day dress. It includes all my favorite details like a fitted button up bodice, long sleeves, and an extreme collar.
3. Item with Most Sentimental Attachment
I was wearing this yellow tropical print romper nine years ago when my husband surprised me on the beach with a bouquet of flowers and a banner asking me to marry him.
4. Item You’ve Had the Longest
This blue and beat- up 60s treasure was worn to shreds ten years ago and now sits as a prize in my closet, occasionally popping out when I know my evening will not include movement.
5. Smartest Splurge
I’m a huge fan of Orla Kiely and couldn’t resist picking up the white organza skirt at the Deep End Club this past spring. Most of my closet consists of vintage, rather weathered clothing, so having a pretty new piece for fancy events is definitely a smart splurge.
6. Thing You Think Everyone Should Own
A garment by my pal Samantha Pleet. Her collections are brilliant in that there seems always to be something for everybody, but she is still able to maintain such a strong voice throughout.
7. Least Worn Piece, But Can’t Get Rid of It
The turquoise shiny jumpsuit has been hanging out for six years and has yet to make it out of the house on my body (though it has taken many turns around home). It’s saving itself for my eccentric older lady days.
