Brooklyn’s 10 Best Beach Eats (Ok, Queens and Long Island Too)
Rockaway Beach (at Shore Front Parkway)
Located off of the last stop on the A-train, the narrow, sleepy beach at the Rockaways used to be where we headed to escape the mad crush at Coney Island. No longer. Now that it’s officially become a dining destination unto itself, good luck snagging a quiet strip of sand past Memorial Day. But if you can’t beat ‘em, you might as well eat with ‘em, so check out one of the newest vendors, Breezy’s BBQ, for pulled pork, smoked brisket and grilled green tomato sandwiches, or make like a local and head to Bungalow Bar after your swim, for a “Rockaway Resistance” (orange vodka, strawberry puree, club soda and lime) and a whole steamed lobster, perched above the considerably calmer waters of Jamaica Bay.
Breezy’s BBQ: 97-01 Shorefront Parkway
Bungalow Bar: 377 Beach 92nd Street
