Brooklyn’s Best Russian Restaurants
Karloff: Cozy Russian comfort food spot, Karloff, was always a bit of an anomaly in aggressively chic Cobble Hill (with the exception of the artisanal red beet and dill-flavored scoops from Jane’s Ice Cream in the Hudson Valley). But since their revamp two seasons ago, cabbage-stuffed varenikis and sour cream-topped borscht now share menu space with cutesy cocktails, like the Bourbon Karamazov with bourbon, maraschino liqueur and mole bitters, the KGB 254 with rye, amaretto and mint liqueur, (served hot), and the Red Square Strawberry Martini, made with house-infused strawberry vodka, strawberry puree and lime.
