Greenpoint Ferry Passengers: Here’s Your Shuttle Bus Schedule
Last week, we reported that in a nightmarish turn of events the dock ramp for Greenpoint’s East River Ferry stop collapsed into the frigid waters of the river shortly after 10 passengers crossed it. State Senator Daniel Squadron immediately called for an investigation into the incident and expressed a desire to set up free shuttle bus service to help the “drastically underserved” residents who rely on the ferry.
Well, Squadron and the New York City Economic Development Corporation have delivered.
Until the Greenpoint stop is up-and-running again, free shuttle buses will run from the India Street ferry landing to the North Williamsburg ferry landing every twenty minutes between 6:50 and 9:30 a.m. In the evenings, shuttles will run in the opposite direction every 20 minutes from 4:30 to 7:20 p.m. Along the way, there will be stops at the B32 bus stop on Franklin St., Franklin/Noble Sts., Franklin St./Greenpoint Ave.and Franklin/India Sts.
While there’s no official word on when the Greenpoint landing will reopen, this should go a long way to help those in distress. We’ll let you know when the ferry route is back to normal.
