Neighborhood Crawl: Vanderbilt Avenue in Prospect Heights
Appetizers: Chuko Noodles may be the raison d’être at this slim, spare ramen-ya, but we’d just as soon sit at the counter with a tall can of Sapporo and a progression of snacks and small bites. There are exemplary, pillowy steam buns (filled with shrimp and garlic tartar sauce or pork and chili mayo), and terrific turns on two of the borough’s most tired trends; crispy brussels sprouts tossed with fish sauce and roasted peanuts, and fried kale salad with miso dressing, strewn with nuggets of sweet potato and plump golden raisins.
