Brooklyn Chefs Give Thanks
Tyler Kord, chef/owner of No. 7 in Fort Greene and No.7 Sub in Greenpoint
What single event or milestone occurred at your restaurant this year that you’re particularly grateful for?
No. 7 turned 5 this year, which was pretty incredible. I remember when we opened trying to picture what it would be like to have the security of being a 5-year-old restaurant. Turns out it feels less secure than the first year sometimes!
What dish on your menu are you most grateful to have free, unlimited access to?
I am always thankful for broccoli tacos. I love broccoli!!
What makes you exceptionally grateful to have a restaurant in Brooklyn, over anywhere else in the world?
I love having a restaurant in Brooklyn because I love living near my restaurant and I wouldn’t love living near my restaurant so much if it was in another city. And my whole family lives in Brooklyn, which means that for Thanksgiving I get to make pies for service with my mom, and during service my 4-year-old nephew will try to help cook. Thanksgiving at No. 7 is the most fun day of the year.
