The 10 Best Beers for Fall
Brooklyn/Paulaner Oktoberfest
It could be said that Oktoberfest is fall’s version of the crisp, light lagers and pilsners you drink all summer. Relatively low in alcohol content and not too terribly intense in the flavor department, they’re perfectly suited to all-day drinking sessions. Truth be told, there’s not a huge amount of variation from brewery to brewery, so you can pretty much take your pick. For an American version, I figure you should stay local and pick up Brooklyn Brewery’s take on the style. If you’re looking for an authentic German variety, you could do much worse than the always affordable Paulaner. (Hacker Pshorr’s would also do nicely, as would Ayinger’s, though I haven’t seen that in New York yet this year.)
