10 Perfect Things to Do This Fall If You Are Single and Completely Alone
Word Book Events
Lit events are great things to attend, whether you’re in a couple or all by yourself. And two upcoming events at Word in Greenpoint are almost tailor-made for the lonely oddballs among us. The first is the Matt Zoller Seitz-led discussion of director Wes Anderson and his works (in celebration of the upcoming release of The Wes Anderson Collection, the first in-depth overview of Anderson’s filmography), which promises to be an intelligent, funny discussion of a filmmaker known for portraying thwarted romance and strange, almost (though not quite) unloveable people. The second is an event in honor of the release of the latest book about a character that sort of defined what it meant to be single and alone—Bridget Jones. The latest Helen Fielding-penned, Bridget Jones book, Mad About the Boy, is scheduled for release this fall and so you can celebrate just like Bridget would, by getting fall-down drunk and regretting everything you did the night before when you wake up the next morning with a splitting headache. Cheers!
