A Guide to Poetry Open Mics in Brooklyn
Tom Kane’s Boulveard Bards
Boulevard Books & Cafe opened in Dyker Heights in 2010, on 13th Avenue (aka Dyker Heights Boulevard, thus the name), which maybe didn’t seem like the likeliest spot in Brooklyn to open a bookstore. But so far it’s been a neighborhood hit, and recently it started up this poetry/etc. night on second Wednesdays. A featured poet goes on at 7pm, then local Tommy Lombardozzi plays a few songs on his guitar, and then there’s an open mic that runs until 9pm-ish. The crowd can skew a little older, but that’s Dyker Heights for you.
