Sometimes you’ll embarrass yourself if you make sweeping proclamations about recently released works of art, because they don’t always stand the test of time. But we’re pretty convinced that this recently published novel will be remembered as a pretty accurate depiction of contemporary Brooklyn, at least of the gentrifying-writers set, as emblematic of its time as Davis’s and Fox’s books were of theirs.
