Literary Brooklyn: A Real Life Tour of 10 Fictional Brooklyn Places
Sophie’s Choice, William Styron
This is the last passage from Styron’s novel! I promise! It’s just that this is such a lovely description of Brooklyn College that I didn’t want to pass it up. Plus, despite being located smack in the center of the borough, Brooklyn College is a discrete campus (unlike, say, NYU) and, unless you’re actually going to school there or live right nearby, isn’t the kind of place that you just happen upon. Which, that’s kind of a shame. Because the campus is quite lovely, or at least it is for a city college campus, and it’s nice to be reminded that there’s such an excellent undergrad and grad school right here in our own backyard.
