Brooklyn’s Most Iconic Signs
Probably the most recognizable sign in Brooklyn is the one for Kentile Floors on the old Kentile factory on 9th Street and Second Avenue (not far from the Eagle Clothes sign). The company once employed as many as 400 workers during the post-war flooring boom, though it was out of business by the 90s. Rumors spread earlier this year that the sign might come down, but a representative of the building told Gothamist, “The sign’s not going anywhere… We love the sign.” As does everybody in Brooklyn.
