An Artisanal Food Tour of Brooklyn

Kings County Jerky
Chris Woehrle, a former art director, and Robert Stout, a fashion photographer, threw themselves headfirst into artisanal beef jerky production in 2011. Made in small batches using only grass-fed beef and fresh herbs and spices, these chewy treats are nothing like snapping into a Slim Jim (not that there’s anything wrong with that). Their Cracked Pepper, Korean BBQ and Sichuan Ginger jerky can be found at Smorgasburg, Brooklyn Flea and the New Amsterdam Market or ordered through the company website, but nothing beats a visit to the mod Bushwick facility with adjoining retail store. If you visit on the weekend or e-mail in advance, you’ll score a private tour of the kitchen—along with plenty of samples.
