Best Venue for Self-Identified Metalheads: Saint Vitus
Where it is: 1120 Manhattan Ave, Greenpoint
Who to see: KEN mode (8/9), Scout Niblett with Dope Body (9/13), Grails (9/15)
When a venue is named in honor of a doom metal band from the 70s, it’s going to be difficult to entirely escape the pigeonhole of booking like-minded acts. Though the team at Saint Vitus is slowly expanding into hosting other subgenres of rock, it’s not like they’re doing everything they can to dodge their namesake either. Their expertise clearly lies in this realm of gloom, doom and noise, making for a surprisingly cathartic, fist-pumping, communal show experience.
