The 5 Best Public Piers in Brooklyn
Valentino Pier
Named after a decorated firefighter who died on the job, this Red Hook pier is narrower than most similar ones, but it’s also artfully graceful in the way occasional little decks blossom from its sides, culminating in a circular platform at the end. Built in 1996, it’s particularly popular with fishermen, like all the public piers in Brooklyn, but it’s also perhaps the best place in Brooklyn to see the sunset, or the Statue of Liberty. That is, it’s got a great view. [photo]
